In Sept 2020, Ofgem awarded Emergent the first ever ‘Energy Regulation Sandbox’.
We were granted exemptions from energy regulation that allowed us to test new metering arrangements that we argued would enable microgrids to be delivered more effectively and benefit customers.
We operated nine pilots, serving 210 customers, which were comprehensively monitored and evaluated for three years.
Following a thorough industry process, our proposed changes to metering regulation were introduced in Sept 2024, enabling us to bring the Unit-E Grid to market.
